Social media Influence

Exposing the good side and the dark side of social media

Social media and its effects on society

According to Brian, (2010) social media influence is basically the things that have the power to affect peoples' opinions or how they live their lives. We are all aware of the changes that social media has brought both in the society and PR industries. Thus, it has further created a massive impact in peoples' lives both in a positive and negative way. However, these impacts do not fully determine the future of PRP's because they can still survive, they can still overcome the challenges, but the question is how? Today you are going to find out, let's dive in and read.

The benefits of using social media

Benefits of using social media
One of the benefits of using social media as a public relations practitioner is that it assists you in informing the public and sharing information quickly about current events. According to Graham and Dutton (2014) it can further be a great strategy to connect with different stakeholders through social media platforms like Facebook, twitter and many more to share information and communicate with the public. It also plays a significant role in increasing the number of audiences and ensure that the feedback of publics and opinions are received very quickly also be monitored (Nchabeleng, MCJ and CA Bischoff, 2017).  Moreover, help public relations to build relationships between an organization and its publics. It has to be remembered that during crisis social media really does a difference by spreading the information immediately to protect an organization in crisis.

   Disadvantages of using social media

Disadvantages of using social media on public relations.

Whether or not it is believed that lack of knowledge when it comes to using technology as a PRP can affect an organization in a very bad way. Gavin, (2021) proposes that majority of organizations finds it hard to adapt with the new ways of communication or technology. On the other hand, Ridder, (2021) argues that it normally happens that most of the time the publics believe false information that may keep popping up in their news feed on social media claiming that it is from trusted sources. This can affect the public relations practitioner's reputation in a very bad way because they can lose public support as they can fail to trust them again. The continuing changes in media or technology can put PRP's work at risk because they will soon be overwhelmed due to little knowledge they have when it comes to technology which can threaten their work (Journal of Business and Retail management Research (JBRMR), Vol no.12 (3) April 2018). This can further call for thousands of organizations to require skilled people only and that is how they can lose their careers. Therefore, it is very vital for PRP's to familiarize themselves with technology so that they won' be at risk of losing their jobs. PRP's also need to learn different strategies to cope with the changing ways of using media so that there won't find themselves in the middle of the competition. Further asks for assistance if they feel like they need to improve somewhere in their content to draw audience's attention so that even if change takes place their audience foundation is strong.

I completely agree with your analysis of the benefits of using social media as a public relations practitioner. The ability to connect with different audiences and stakeholders, as well as monitor feedback and opinions, is invaluable in building and maintaining relationships. The quick and efficient communication offered by social media platforms also makes it an ideal tool for crisis management, as you've mentioned. Additionally, social media allows for a more personalized and direct connection with the public, which can increase trust and credibility for an organization. Overall, social media can be a powerful tool in the hands of a skilled and responsible public relations practitioner. ๐Ÿ‘
